German propaganda photograph captured by the RAF.
RAF Caption: "Shot down by German anti-aircraft fire over Berlin.
The remains of one of 21 aircraft which crashed in the suburbs. They were shot down during a raid by British planes on the capital on Monday night. The engine and part of the mainplane of the bomber may be seen."
The photograph shows Germans inspecting the engine, propeller and port wing of a crashed allied bomber. The aircraft is an Avro Lancaster bomber of the Royal Air Force's Bomber Command. The large flame dampening exhaust covers can be clearly on each side of the engine being looked at by the German military personnel and further along the wing can be seen the engine mount for the number 1 engine (of four) fitted to an Avro Lancaster, minus the engine which appears to have been ripped or fallen off in the process of the crash.
