German Caption: “Beim terrorangriff auf Berlin abgeschossener Britenbomber.
Bei dem terrorangriff britischer Bomber auf die Reichshauptstadt in der Nacht zum 2. Märs wurden nach bisherigen Meldungen 19 feindliche Flugzeuge abgeschossen. – Unser Bild zeigt die Reate eines Britenbombers, der brennend in ein Laubengelände im Osten Berlins abstürste.

RAF Caption: "British bomber shot down during a terror attack on Berlin. During a terror attack on the capital on the night of March 1st - 2nd, 19 aircraft have so far been reported shot down. Our picture shows the remains of a British bomber, which crashed in flames on some allotment holdings in the east of Berlin."
The photograph is of the spread out wreckage of a plane which has obviously crashed with great force, judging by the impact craters, into a suburban garden. The original German caption states that the photograph is from 2.1.1943, however this is believed to be a mistake as the text refers to the 1st/2nd of March. Bomber Command records confirm that aircraft did bomb Berlin on that night.
