German propaganda photograph captured by the RAF.
German Caption: “Sie wähnten sich in der Hölle.
USA-Terrorflieger warden in ein Gefangenenlager eingeliefert. Sie wurden bei einem Tagesangriff auf deutsches Reichsgebiet abgeschossen. Bei ihrer Vernehmung erklärten sei, die Abwehr sei so furchtbar gewesen, dass sie sich anstatt unter freiem Himmel in der Hölle wähnten.

RAF Caption: "They thought they were in hell.
American terror fliers are entering a prisoner of war camp. They were shot down in daylight attacks over Germany. During interrogation they declare that antiaircraft fire was so terrible they thought they were in hell instead of in the open sky."
The photograph is of approximately fifteen POWs walking in a loose formation on some sort of construction site. Large sections of concrete pipes are visible behind them.
