Description
Clyde River, Scotland. The battleship HMS Vanguard of the Royal Navy. Vanguard was the last battleship built for the Royal Navy and had a displacement of 52,243 tonnes. She was ordered in 1941 but did not enter service until 1946. Vanguard was ultimately sold for scrap in 1960. In the background, the liner Queen Elizabeth can be seen during the process of being repainted to restore her peacetime colours. The rear half is still shown in wartime grey colour.
