Description
The grave of Captain (Capt) George Stephenson Elliott, Australian Army Medical Corps. A medical practitioner from Elwood, Vic prior to enlistment, Capt Elliott embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Orsova on 1 August 1916. Whilst attached to the 56th Battalion he was awarded the Military Cross for "his work and splendid devotion to duty" between 13 and 17 May 1917. Capt Elliott was killed in action on 25 September 1917 and was buried in The Huts Cemetery Belgium. He was a brother of Brigadier General Harold Edward Elliott CB CMG DSO DCM BA LLM.
