Seated: Sergeant Read; Sergeant Langley; Quartermaster Sergeant Francis; Farrier Sergeant G H Goodall Corporal Frederick Solly-Flood; Sergeant Dockrell. Front row: Corporal Napier; Corporal Harry Morant. Corporal Morant, later lieutenant, known as "the breaker" because of his horsebreaking experience, was court-martialled and executed in South Africa in 1902 for shooting Boer prisoners some of whom were responsible for the murder of his friend and fellow officer, Captain Hunt.
