2nd South Australian (Mounted Rifles) Contingent, non commissioned officers. Left to right: back row: Corporal Frederick Solly-Flood, Lance Corporal Rowell, Corporal Butler, Lance Corporal Castine, Lance Corporal Coffey, Corporal Brock, Sergeant Knapman, Lance Corporal Goode, Sergeant ... Corporal Morant, later lieutenant, known as "the breaker" because of his horsebreaking experience, was court-martialled and executed in South Africa in 1902 for shooting Boer prisoners some of whom were responsible for the murder of his friend and fellow officer, Captain Hunt.
