Description
Japanese prisoners held in the War Criminal Compound at a base are trucked to outside work details. The Japanese prisoners work under RAN supervision. Work on this RAN base commenced in August 1948. It was commissioned as HMAS Seeadler on 1 January 1950 and recommissioned as HMAS Tarangau on 1 April 1950. The name was transferred from the decommissioned RAN Base at Dreger Harbour, New Guinea.
