Description
Tamarkan, Thailand. c. September 1945. A corner of the prisoner of war (POW) cemetery. Tamarkan is fifty five kilometres north of Nong Pladuk (also known as Non Pladuk) and five kilometres north of Kanchanaburi. Following the Japanese surrender in 1945, the bodies from this cemetery were exhumed and reburied in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, together with those from cemeteries along the Burma-Thailand railway south of Nieke (135 kilometres south of Thanbyuzayat, or 280 kilometres north of Nong Pladuk) and other cemeteries throughout Thailand.
