Description
Burma-Thailand Railway. c. September 1945. Japanese rail diesel train, cars and trucks used by the War Graves Commission survey party in their search along the Burma-Thailand railway, for the location of prisoner of war (POW) cemeteries and grave sites. The six cylinder air cooled diesel truck was one of a number used by the Japanese during the construction of the Burma-Thailand railway. These trucks could quickly be converted to run on either rail or road, a major asset during the construction period 1942-1943. (Donor A. MacKinnon)
