Description

Anakan (Anganan) (Aungganuang), Burma. c. September 1945. Lieutenant J. Eldridge, a British member of the War Graves Commission survey party, and two Japanese officers. They are searching this overgrown prisoner of war (POW) cemetery for the grave of WX10366 Private N. W. Frazer, in order to recover a camera, films and documents which were secretly buried there under the instructions of Major Charles Green, 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion, in May 1943. Ankanan was 105 kilometres south of Thanbyuzayat, or 310 kilometres north of Nong Pladuk (also known as Non Pladuk). (Donor A. Mackinnon)
