Burma-Thailand Railway. c. September 1945-1946. Warrant Officer Class 2 L. Cody, 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion and Sergeant J. H. Sherman (Schurman), 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion, ex-prisoner of war (POW) members of the War Graves Commission survey party whose task was to locate POW cemeteries and grave sites along the Burma-Thailand railway. Here, paybooks and other documents have been laid out to dry after being recovered from their hiding places in graves of deceased POWs. (Donor A. MacKinnon)
