SOUTH HEAD NSW. 24-04-12. STARBOARD QUARTER VIEW OF THE BATTLECRUISER HMAS AUSTRALIA (I) BEING SCUTTLED AT A POSITION 95 DEGREES, 24 MILES FROM SOUTH HEAD, UNDER THE TERMS OF THE WASHINGTON TREATY. THE SEA COCKS HAVE BEEN OPENED, EXPLOSIVE CHARGES BLOWN AND THE SHIP IS STARTING TO LIST TO PORT. THE SECOND FUNNEL HAS BEEN REMOVED AND IS LYING ON THE DECK AMIDSHIPS. THE TOPMAST, STARFISH AND GUNNERY CONTROL ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE FOREMAST. THE SECONDARY ARMAMENT AND SEARCHLIGHTS HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKEN OFF. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION).
