Description
The Japanese surrender aircraft, a Tachikawa KI-53C (Hickory), seen here on Labuan Isle. Lieutenant General Masao Baba, Commander of the Japanese 37th Army and Supreme Commander of Japanese Forces in Borneo, arrived at Labuan aboard this aircraft to surrender the forces under his command to Major General Wootten. The fuselage of this aircraft is preserved in the collection of the AWM.
