The 12 Commander Royal Engineers (Works) firing a 350 lb charge of gelignite and monobell at the Nine Mile Quarry, Port Moresby. The hill was 150 feet higher when civil contractors commenced quarrying in October 1940. Part of the crushing plant may be seen on the left.
