Informal portrait of Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Harold Maughan Pullin, 24th Battalion, taken on board HMAT Ulysses en route to Egypt. A private tutor from East Malvern, Vic Prior to enlistment, 2nd Lt Pullin embarked with the 6th Reinforcements, Battalion from Melbourne on HMAT Ulysses on 27 October 1915. Later transferring to the 58th Battalion, he was promoted to Lieutenant and, after being accidently wounded, returned to Australia on 17 March 1917. He subsequently served as an employment officer with the rank of Major during the Second World War.
