Description
Members of the ground crew of No. 460 Squadron RAAF, standing in front of a squadron Handley Page Halifax bomber aircraft. Flight Sergeant Harry Tickle is second from the right. Previously equipped with Vickers Wellington aircraft, No. 460 Squadron was withdrawn from operations on 15 September 1942 to be re-equipped with Halifax aircraft. Conversion training on this type of aircraft continued until late October 1942 when a further decision was made which resulted in the squadron being re-equipped with Avro Lancaster bomber aircraft rather than the Halifax.
