Description
Dobo, Indonesia. Sub-Lieutenant Arthur Robert "Bob" Chapman (centre), Commander of the HMAS Krait, Z Special Unit, accompanied by members of his crew, accepting the surrender of Imperial Japanese Guards. Moored on the right is the HMAS Krait, which, disguised as a Japanese fishing vessel, had conducted a number of successful shipping raids behind enemy lines. It became famous for its role in Operation Jaywick, conducted by Z Special Unit, a successful mission to sabotage Japanese shipping in Singapore Harbour on the night of 26 September 1943.
