Informal outdoor portrait of Enid May (Ned) Breakspear (later Mrs Dore) wearing the uniform of the Women’s Reserve Emergency Naval Service (WRENS), a volunteer group of women who worked with the Royal Australian Navy and was later called the Women’s Naval Service (WNS). On 18 November 1942, Miss Breakspear joined the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) as a Supply Assistant, service number WR/264. She later trained in regulating and finished her service on 5 September 1946 as a Chief Petty Officer Wran Regulating.
