Three weeks after the 24th Australian Infantry Brigade arrived in Palestine from Tobruk a parade was held at Kilo 89 to mark the visit by the General Officer Commanding AIF, Lieutenant General Sir Thomas Blamey. NX376 Lieutenant Colonel David Adie Whitehead, Commanding Officer of the 2/2nd Machine Gun Battalion with General Blamey after they had completed their inspection of the unit.
