Description
A wounded Australian soldier from the 2/17th Infantry Battalion being carried into the famous ”Fig Tree” Regimental Aid Post. Situated in a cave over which grew an old fig tree, the area was under enemy observation from two points and was shelled for some hours every day. The fig tree stood out as the sole growth in an otherwise barren and rock area in the Tobruk salient.
