Description

The seaplane ship, HMS Nairana which was originally designed for the Bass Straight passenger service, she has been fitted with hangars forward and aft. A flight deck is fitted forward with a hatch to allow the hoisting of aircraft to the deck for take off. Aircraft were taken from the after hangar and lowered over the stern by the overhanging gantry. Note the aircraft probably a Sopwith Camel at the stern.
