404085 Sergeant (Sgt) Alan Cecil Cameron, left, and O35436 (145) Wing Commander (WgCdr) Peter Jeffrey, DSO, DFC, of 3 Squadron RAAF. On 30 Septemnber 1941 Sgt Cameron was forced to land in the desert during an operation flight. WgCdr Jeffrey landed his Tomahawk aircraft in the desert to Sgt Cameron's location, discarded his parachute, and the two men flew back to base in the single seated cockpit. Sgt Cameron had the reputation as being the largest man in the squadron, and was affectionately known as 'Tiny'.
