Studio portrait of 4252 Private (Pte) Lyle Comyn Reeves, 20th Battalion. A clerk from Hornsby, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Reeves originally embarked with the service number of 986 with the Naval and Military Expedition Force (Tropical Unit) from Melbourne on HMAT Berrima on 19 August 1914 and was discharged on 4 March 1915, his time having expired. After re-enlisting, he embarked with the rank of Acting Sergeant (Sgt) with the 10th Reinforcements, 20th Battalion from Sydney on HMAT Orsova on 11 March 1916. After reverting to the rank of Corporal, he was wounded in action in France. After regaining the rank of Sergeant, he returned to Australia on 6 September 1919. See also P08804.003
