Studio portrait of 2955 Private (Pte) Harry Alexander Aberdeen, 47th Battalion from Brisbane, Queensland. A 21 year old carpenter with previous service in the 8th Militia Battalion prior to enlisting on 24 September 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements from Brisbane on 27 October 1916 aboard HMAT Marathon (A74). Following further training in England, he served with the battalion in France and then in Belgium where he was wounded in action at Messines. Pte Aberdeen died of his wounds on 10 June 1917 and is buried in the Trois Arbres Cemetery, Steenwerck, France.
