Studio portrait of 1453 Private (Pte) Harry Daly Black, 2nd Battalion, of North Sydney, NSW. A student prior to enlistment , Pte Black embarked with the 2nd reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Seang Bee on 11th February 1915. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 11th May 1915 aged 18 and is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery. Note he is wearing the insignia of a Signals Sergeant, although there is no indication on his service record that he achieved that rank.
