Studio portrait of 4437 Private (Pte) Leslie Stephen Boardman, 6th Battalion, of Morwell, Vic. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Boardman embarked with the 14th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Themistocles on 28th January 1916. Later transferring to the 2nd Machine Gun Coy, Pte Boardman was killed in action in France on 26th April 1917 aged 19, and was buried in the Moeuvres Communal Cemetery Extension.
