Studio portrait of 2266 Private (Pte) George Ernest Bolton, 24th Battalion, of Collingwood, Vic. A stoker in civilian life, Pte Bolton enlisted under the name Ernest George Bolton. He embarked with the 4th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Hororata on 27th September 1915. He was killed in action in Belgium on 9th October 1917 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
