Studio portrait of 4979 Corporal (Cpl) Ernest George Henry Bott, 21st Battalion, of Kerang Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment, Cpl Bott embarked with the 13th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Ayrshire on 3rd July 1916. He was awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry at Bullecourt on 3rd May 1917. Cpl Bott was killed in action on 4th October 1917 near Ypres and is commemorated on the Menin Gate..
