Studio portrait of 13262 Private (Pte) Leslie Emanuel Bowman, 4th Field Ambulance, Australian Army Medical Corps. A machinist from Burnley, Victoria, prior to enlistment on 17 July 1915, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Karoola on 7 March 1916 for Egypt. The 4th Field Ambulance relocated to the Western Front, France during June 1916. Pte Bowman was killed in action near Messines, France, on 8 June 1917. He was aged 23 years.
