Studio portrait of 1523 (later 1516) Private (Pte) Brinley Richard Boyer, 1st Battalion. A native of Basingstoke, England, he formerly served with the Royal Horse Artillery before emigrating to Australia where he was employed as a farrier prior to enlistment. Pte Boyer embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Seang Choon on 11th February 1915. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 14th August 1915 and although he has no known grave, a headstone was later erected at the Lone Pine Cemetery stating 'believed to be buried in this cemetery'.
