Studio portrait of 5051 Private (Pte) Harold Charles Boyle, 6th Battalion, of Boort, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment, Pte Boyle embarked with the 16th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Suffolk on 1st April 1916. After being promoted to Lance Corporal ( L Cpl) he was killed in action in Belgium on 4th October 1917 aged 23 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate.
