Portrait of Private (Pte) Alban John Callaghan, 19th Battalion from Seaham, Maitland, NSW. He was a 20 year old labourer prior to enlisting on 2 August 1915. While undergoing training, he was taken ill and later died of measles and pneumonia in the No 1 Isolation Hospital at Liverpool Camp, NSW on 19 September 1915. Pte Callaghan is buried in the Morpheth Cemetery, Morpheth, NSW.
