Studio portrait of 2821 Private (Pte) Eric Henry Chambers, 10th Battalion from Unley, South Australia. A 22 year old telephone mechanic prior to enlisting on 8 June 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 9th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 21 September 1915 aboard HMAT Star of England. After serving at Gallipoli, he went on to serve in France where he was killed in action at Pozieres on 25 July 1916. Pte Chambers is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave.
