Studio portrait of 3487 Private (Pte) Robert Moodie Collyer, 23rd Battalion from Brunswick, Victoria. A 35 year old farmer prior to enlisting on 20 August 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 8th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 5 January 1916 aboard HMAT Afric. After joining the battalion in the field in France, he was killed in action near Armentieres on 3 July 1916. Pte Collyer is buried in the Ration Farm Military Cemetery, La Chapelle, D'Armentieres, France.
