Studio portrait of 1581 Private Robert Elder Cox, 19th Battalion from Minto, NSW. A 25 year old wool classer prior to enlistment on 4 September 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 4th Reinforcements of the Light Trench Mortar Battery from Sydney on 9 November 1916 aboard HMAT Benella. He was killed in action on 19 September 1917 near Zillebeke Bund, Belgium and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
