Studio portrait of 1025 Sergeant (Sgt) Ralph Bertram Webb Cracknell, 30th Battalion from Moonee Ponds, Victoria. A 23 year old tailor prior to enlisting on 25 June 1915, he embarked for overseas with A Company from Sydney on 9 November 1915 aboard HMAT Beltana. While serving in France, he was killed in action at Fromelles on 20 July 1916. Sgt Cracknell is buried in the Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France.
