Studio portrait of 44 Private (Pte) James Henry Edgerton, 10th Machine Gun Company. A labourer from Surry Hills, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Edgerton embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Ascanius on 27 May 1916. On 5 October 1917, aged 33, he died of wounds received in action and was buried in the Nine Elms British Cemetery, Belgium.
