Studio portrait of 561 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Robert Norman Emery, 24th Battalion. A commercial traveller from Armadale, Vic prior to enlistment L Cpl Emery embarked with the rank of Private (Pte) from Melbourne on 10 May 1915 on HMAT Euripides. On 29 November 1915 he was killed in action at Gallipoli, aged 24. After originally being buried in the Brown's Dip Cemetery, he was later re-interred in the Lone Pine Cemetery. His brother, 2127 Pte Walter Sydney Emery had previously been killed, also at Gallipoli, on 8 August 1915.
