Description

Studio portrait of 589 Private (Pte) Harold Percy Ellis, 12th Battalion. A brass moulder from Rosewater, SA prior to enlistment, Pte Ellis embarked with E Company from Hobart on 20 October 1914 on HMAT Geelong. On 25 July 1916 he was killed in action and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. Two brothers, 500 Trooper (Tpr) Fred Bertram Ellis and 130 Tpr Herbert John Ellis were also killed during the war.
