Studio portrait of 875 Trooper (Tpr) Leicester George Ellis, 4th Light Horse Regiment. A clerk from Williamstown, Vic prior to enlistment, Tpr Ellis embarked with the 4th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 13 April 1915 on HMAT Wiltshire. On 23 August 1915 he died on board HMHS Formosa from wounds received in action at Gallipoli and was buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial.
