Rabaul, New Britain. 1945-09-06. Members of the Ship's Company of the Aircraft Carrier HMS Glory drawn up for the ceremony of surrender of all Japanese Forces in New Guinea, New Britain, New Ireland, Bougainville and the adjacent islands. The Japanese surrender party is being escorted along the flight deck. Note the precaution of armed soldiers accompanying the party. Off the carrier's stern are two Black Swan Class Frigates.
