Captain Fred Kazuo Iwama, a Canadian-born Japanese interpreter reading the surrender terms to Lieutenant General Adachi, Commander 18th Japanese Army in New Guinea. Lieutenant General Adachi formally surrendered to Major General H C H Robertson (not in view), General Officer Commanding 6th Division, in a ceremony held at Cape Wom airstrip.
