Description

Studio portrait of 2605 Private (Pte) Edward August Fiegert, 32nd Battalion. A railway porter from Nackara, SA prior to enlistment, Pte Fiegert embarked with his brother, 2606 Pte John Christian Fiegert, with the 5th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 25 March 1916 on HMAT Shropshire. On 2 December 1916 he was killed in action aged 19. He was originally buried near to where he fell but was later re-buried in the Bancourt British Cemetery, France. Pte John Fiegert returned to Australia on 11 May 1919.
