Studio portrait of 6266 Private Michael Antony, 5th Battalion. A labourer from Melbourne, Victoria prior to enlistment, Pte Antony served under the name Michael George and embarked with the 20th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Euripides on 11 September 1916. On 10 May 1917 he was killed in action near Bullecourt and buried nearby. Following the Armistice his grave could not be located and he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux memorial.
