Studio portrait of 2045 Private (Pte) Lovell Poulett Harris, 14th Battalion from Windsor, Victoria. A 24 year old letter carrier prior to enlisting on 11 March 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 5th Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata (A20) on 17 April 1915. After joining the 14th Battalion at Gallipoli on 9 July 1915, he was killed in action during an attack on ‘W’ Hill sometime between the 27 and the 29th August 1915. Pte Harris is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial at Gallipoli, Turkey with others who have no known grave.
