Studio portrait of 3123 Private (Pte) Charles Joseph Harrison, D Company, 58th Battalion from Terang, Victoria. A 20 year old grocer prior to enlisting on 7 July 1915, he embarked for overseas service with the 7th Reinforcements of the 21st Battalion from Melbourne aboard HMAT Wiltshire (A18) on 18 November 1915. After arriving in Egypt, he transferred to the 60th Battalion and then to the 58th Battalion and went with them to France in August 1916. Pte Harrison was killed in action north east of Guendecourt, France on 4 February 1917 and is buried in the Bancourt British Cemetery, Picardie, France.
