Studio portrait of 1185 Private Oliver Hellyer, 18th Battalion, of Glebe Point NSW. Son of Septimus William and Bertha Louisa Hellyer of Coogee, NSW. A clerk prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. He was killed in action on 27 July 1916 in France, aged 22. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
