Studio portrait of 69 Private (Pte) James Reynolds Hickey, 3rd Division Cyclist Battalion. A labourer from Brinkworth, SA prior to enlistment, Pte Hickey embarked from Sydney on HMAT Themistocles on 18 May 1916. Later transferring to the 12th Infantry Battalion he was wounded in action and, on 15 April 1917, he was killed in action and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
