Description
Studio portrait of 4443 Driver (Dvr) Albert William Jordan, 23rd Battery, Australian Field Artillery (AFA) from Malvern, Victoria. A 19 year old clerk with previous service in the 21st Battery AFA prior to enlisting in the AIF on 27 April 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 6th Reinforcements of the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade from Melbourne on 28 June 1915 aboard HMAT Berrima (A35). Following further training in Egypt, Dvr Jordan went to Gallipoli where he served until the evacuation. He then went to France where he transferred to the 21st Field Artillery Brigade and was subsequently killed in action near Flers on 14 November 1916. Dvr Jordan is buried in Delville Wood Cemetery, Longueval, France.
